The Annual New Marlborough Artists exhibition showcases creative people in the visual arts who reside in New Marlborough
The New Marlborough Library is partnering with the Meeting House and calling on our talented young citizens to participate in our event, “Art in the time of COVID: Young Artists Celebrate New Marlborough.”
The Berkshires – it’s our home, it’s where we live. We love its hills and valleys, its rivers and lakes, its mill towns and villages, its seasons, its rich cultural offerings, its history…. But how do artists express their connection to this place? What essences do they celebrate or explore through their arts and crafts? Is it the great beauty of the Berkshires that they focus upon, or do they see some underlying flaws? Do they celebrate the sinuous flow of the Housatonic River or, instead, illuminate the environment damage that was done to it? Do they honor the memory of our native son, W.E.B. DuBois, or go further, to question the disparities of race and wealth of our present time and place? What is it about the Berkshires that feeds the creative spirit? Come see!
This show presents recent works by artists who are working within a thirty-mile radius of New Marlborough. The rich array of works represents subjects and mediums that bears witness to the artist’s practice. The show was juried by Em Rooney and Chris Domenick: artists, residents of the Berkshires, and Professors of Photography and Sculpture at Bard College at Simon’s Rock.
Opening party Sept 17, 5-7pm

The words may suggest works of Figurative Art, from real sources, or works from a process such as figuring things out, or a numerical process. These artists may be using anything from animate or inanimate objects, numerals, or the human figure, as the stimulus for their works.
Showtime 1-4pm
When the pandemic closed down all our programs last summer, the town's children stepped forward to fill in the void with a wonderful exhibit of their art on the Green. The show was such a success that The Meeting House and New Marlborough Library have invited our young artists back to help us celebrate, as we renew our lives on the other side of Covid!
Opening reception July 23, 5-7pm
Exhibit runs July 24 - Aug. 15
Whether about Nature or metaphors, these works may literally use sticks and stones, or represent what the words "sticks and stones" allude to, or how they're used referentially in speech (a heart of stone). Works in many media may be playful or deadly serious.
